For men:

3. Don't be too drunk.

5. Make intelligent, but not too erudite, conversation.
   
6. Listen attentively.
   
7. Smile and laugh.
   
8. Pray.

For women:

1. Show up.
   
2. On the incredibly rare occasion that step 1 does not work immediately, smile.
